If you want to install your door opener on the INSIDE of your coop, you need a light sensor that reaches for the outside to "sense" the light. Or, you can drill a small hole through the coop wall and face the sensor to the light of day.
Easy installation. Just insert color coded wires into numbered pins and place the black rubber cap over the internal light sensor.
